El Dorado Hills is a census-designated place located in El Dorado County, California, USA. The area was originally inhabited by the Nisenan and Miwok Native American tribes.

The first European settlers arrived in the area in the 1840s, and it was primarily agricultural until the 1960s, with cattle grazing and fruit orchards being the primary industries. The community was named after the legendary “El Dorado,” which was believed to be a city of gold somewhere in the Americas.

In the 1960s, the area began to experience significant growth due to the post-World War II housing boom and the expansion of the nearby Sacramento metropolitan area. The population of the community increased rapidly during this time, and it was officially recognized as a census-designated place in 1985.

Today, El Dorado Hills is a thriving community with a population of over 43,000 people. It is known for its high quality of life, excellent schools, and access to outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, fishing, and boating. The community is home to a variety of businesses, parks, and community organizations, and is also known for its proximity to recreational areas such as Folsom Lake and the Eldorado National Forest.

El Dorado Hills (“The Golden” in Spanish) is primarily an affluent suburb and an unincorporated town in El Dorado County, California, located in the Greater Sacramento area.

During the California Gold Rush, gold was washed down the South Fork of the American River, into what is now known as El Dorado Hills. Perhaps that led to its name which translates from Spanish as “The Golden”. Portions of two Pony Express routes in this area from 1860 to 1861 remain as modern El Dorado Hills roads.

Between the late 1960s and mid-1990s, growth occurred at a moderate pace as new families relocated from Sacramento, Southern California and the Bay Area to take advantage of this large master-planned community developed by Allan Lindsey. El Dorado Hills consists of residential “villages”, a business park, 18-hole golf course, community parks, schools, a community shopping center, and small commercial centers in each village. The master plan emphasized open space between villages and the opportunity for outdoor recreation.

Services Available in El Dorado Hills

    Windshield Repair

If you have a small crack, chip, combination crack, long crack, star crack, or bulls eye crack, we can definitely help repair it. The damage on your windshield can not be in the drivers line of sight or larger than a quarter.

Using advanced technology to remove the air in the damaged area, we then replace the air with plastic resin.  The resin bonds to the glass and prevents the crack from spreading or growing from the damaged area.  Windshield repair typically restores the integrity of the windshield for the entire life of the vehicle and can be completed as quickly as 20 minutes.

Some repairs are barely visible. However, some can still be seen. Each crack is different so the end result varies. Because El Dorado Hills is very hot in the summer, the heat will typically make the crack spread faster. Most insurance companies will cover you for windshield repair claims.

We offer same day service on rock chip repairs 7 days a week.

    When to Repair

✅ You should repair the damage immediately. The longer you wait, the higher likelihood you will have of the damage getting worse.
✅ Dirt and Water can impact the quality of the repair.
✅ Direct sunlight can make the damage get worse.
✅ Car washes and running the air conditioning can make a crack form from a chip

You should repair your windshield as soon as you see the damage. The longer you wait the greater chance a crack can form and your windshield crack can spread.  Keep the vehicle out of extreme heat if it is damaged and out of direct sunlight.  Sudden changes in temperature also make the damage spread.  Today it may be a small chip, but that can change quickly.  If your windshield is in the sun and you get in your vehicle and turn the AC on, the windshield damage may spread due to the sudden change in temperature and make a crack grow – making the damage unrepairable.

All damage is different, not every chip or windshield crack is the same.

If you have a damaged windshield, put a piece of scotch tape over the damage and keep it out of the sun and do not go through a car wash. The faster you repair the damage, the better the outcome will be. The damage will not disappear and the goal of the procedure is to prevent the windshield from having to be replaced.

    • The repair process only takes about 30 minutes.
    • We only repair damage that can be covered with a quarter and the cost for mobile chip repair is $125.00.
    • Windshield Repair can be covered – sometimes. Check your policy coverage details for more information.
    • Repairing your windshield leaves the original factory-installed seal in place.
    • Windshield repair helps save the environment and is the most environmentally friendly option.  Most people do not realize that windshields are not easily or economically recyclable, so by repairing the existing windshield, it is much safer for the environment and less glass will be discarded into landfills. Go Green! Windshield repair is the ECO Friendly option we recommend to our customers.
    • Windshield repair leaves only a slight blemish that will become less noticeable over time, though it will never completely disappear.

Here’s a list of most of the commercial and passenger vehicles we work on: Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Freightliner, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, Kenworth, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Navistar, Nissan, Peterbilt, Porsche, Saturn, Scion, Smart, Subaru, Tesla, Thomas, Toyota, Utilimaster, Volkswagen, Volvo Western Star

    Windshield Repair Cost

The extent of the repair will determine the end cost. However, typically the cost will be around $125.00 for mobile windshield chip repair for the first chip and $20.00 for any subsequent damage.

    Windshield Calibrations

    What is a Calibration?

Windshields in the past were designed to provide basic safety functions but not any more.  The windshield has become a critical component to the onboard safety systems.

Today windshields come equipped with forward camera systems, part of the Advanced driver Assistance systems, to communicate with multiple onboard vehicle systems and the slightest variance from the manufacturer acquired specifications when replacing a windshield can cause a vehicle to misunderstand its position on the road, creating a dangerous situation. You can no longer install a windshield in an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems equipped vehicle and not perform a recalibration of the camera system.

A misaligned camera – by mere millimeter – could mean a life or death driving result which makes recalibration a possible life or death decision. No different than any other aspect of vehicle technology, windshield related recalibrations are continuously changing in complexity and in the scope of systems that they affect.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems technology today is moving forward at lightning speed, constantly being upgraded and modified. This makes the recalibration steps different for each year make model vehicle.

El Dorado Hills Mobile Glass has calibrated literally hundreds of windshield systems. Regardless of the make or model, the glass being OE or aftermarket, or the type of calibration needed was static, dynamic or dual, the single most critical fact of the matter is that calibration was done and done correctly.

As a glass company we hear everyday from different shops that do glass replacement on vehicles with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems we never touched the camera, there are no dash lights so we don’t need to recalibrate the camera.  That is wrong.  If a camera is off by a millimeter or less from the original setting the forward camera may not be able to see the way that it was designed leaving the vehicle unsafe to drive.  The vehicle to respond to what it thinks it sees. Think about that.

Some of these new camera systems are so sensitive that  sensitivity of some of these cameras dust from repairs actually lying on the camera optic lens can jeopardize the safety of everyone near that car when it’s on the road.

Also remember that no instrument cluster panel lights do not necessarily mean that the car is ok. Without a proper diagnostic pre and post scan you really should assume nothing.  The main part you should always remember here is that windshields are no longer something you simply see through when you drive down the highway. They are now helping to do the looking for you. They help you decide how fast you go with vehicles that have adaptive cruise control, how quickly you stop with vehicles that have brake mitigation technology and what lane you’re in with Lane Departure Warning Systems.  Think about the next time you face a windshield calibration decision.

When replacing a windshield on a vehicle that has a camera system integrated into the windshield, the vehicle manufacturers are requiring the vehicle to have its camera system recalibrated.

These ADAS Features, that you might have, indicate your vehicle needs calibration:

    ✅ Adaptive Cruise Control
    ✅ Blind Spot Monitoring
    ✅ Collision Mitigation Braking
    ✅ Lane Departure Alert System
    ✅ Lane Departure Warning
    ✅ Lane Keep Assist
    ✅ Lane Keeping System
    ✅ Lane Change System
    ✅ Pedestrian Detection
    ✅ Lane Tracing Assist
    ✅ Pedestrian Avoidance
    ✅ Adaptive Headlights
    ✅ Traffic Signal Recognition
    ✅ Dynamic Road Sign Display
✅ Front Assist Autonomous Emergency Braking
    ✅ Low Speed Follow
    ✅ Traffic Jam Assist
    ✅ Pre-Collision System
    ✅ Automatic High Beams
    ✅ Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
    ✅ Road Sign Assist

Certain models require different types of calibrations. El Dorado Hills Mobile Glass offers Static, Dynamic and Dual Recalibrations when providing a windshield replacement service on vehicles equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

    Dual Calibration:

    Acura, Honda, Mazda, Subaru

    Dynamic Calibration:

BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC,

Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Plymouth, Ram

    Static Calibration:

Audi, Hyundai, Infiniti, Kia, Lexus, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Scion, Toyota and Volkswagen.

We offer calibrations on all foreign and domestic vehicles.

Some vehicles take more time and require low light and flat surfaces to calibrate while other vehicles need to be driven for a certain period of time for the system monitors to set after the calibration is performed.

    Door Glass

El Dorado Hills Mobile Glass can replace door glass on any car, truck, van, bus or RV.  Most door glass can be done on the day you contact us with our mobile service. We have a large inventory of glass, so rest assured if you need it done quickly, we have you covered.

    Back Glass

We replace Back Glass. When calling, let us know if your back glass has defrost.  If you have a truck and need a sliding window we can install those too.  Some truck windows are powered and some are manual making the prices are always different. If you have a movable back glass and want to replace it with a stationary piece of glass we can do that with no problem, on most vehicles.

    Vent Glass

Vent windows are auto glass windows that are mounted on the sides of vehicles, usually next to retractable windows. Vent windows differ from quarter glass when they can tilt open. The quarter glass vent window has since gone out of style in automobile design. In the last 20 or so years, almost no vent glasses open on passenger cars.

Another reason that car vent windows have disappeared in newer modeled vehicles is due to fuel efficiency. Many drivers are not putting their windows down and cars are more fuel efficient with side windows up and the air conditioner on.

    Quarter Glass

Also called a valance window, a quarter glass window is a side-facing window on a vehicle that is significantly smaller than the standard passenger windows and often serves as an extension of the passenger window either above the rear wheel or next to the side-view mirrors.

    Sliding Glass

This includes retractable moon or sun roofs. This service is not available at this time.

    Window Regulator Repair

We can fix most powered window regulators. If your vehicle’s window is stuck in the down position or will not go down, it’s very likely that you need a window regulator replacement.

If your vehicle window is broken and you need it fixed we have you covered.  Most of the time, Window Regulators are the common culprit when diagnosing a broken power window.  Some people ask why they break and we believe it can be a number of reasons including poor design, window tinting, or anyone leaning or putting pressure on the window. Any of these can reduce the life of the window regulator.

    Window Tinting

The benefits of having your vehicle’s windows are many. Tinting your windows will minimize the problem of glare shining in your car. For those who see “halo lights” while driving at night, the extra tint in the car windows can help you see better. Tinting reduces harmful UV rays and helps keep your car cool and protects car interiors from cracking and warping to keep your car looking newer longer.

Tinting service is available 7 days per week. All tinting is completed in shop to ensure the best quality. Sometimes same-day service is available, but typically requires a 2 day notice to schedule your tint.

    How much does tinting cost?

The price varies depending on your vehicle. Below is an overview of charges:

    ✅ Prefabricated Visor Tint – $40
    ✅ Custom Visor Strip – $60
    ✅ Sedans – $240
    ✅ Trucks and SUV’s – $260
    ✅ Big Suburban – $280
    ✅ Ceramic Sedans – $360-$380
    ✅ Truck Ceramic – $420

If your vehicle has been tinted already there is a charge for removal $150 if it’s in good condition.  If the tint is bubbling, fading .or flaking, the charge is $200. Should the tint be very difficult to remove, the fee is $200.

Decoding the Complexity of Windshield Calibration at El Dorado Hills Mobile Glass

Windshield calibration might appear as a complex and seemingly unconnected procedure to the windshield itself, but it is essential due to the advanced technology integrated into modern windshields. Today’s vehicles require windshield recalibration that chiefly interacts with the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). This innovative automotive technology heightens safety on the road, presenting features like:

    • Adaptive cruise control
    • Collision warning systems
    • Parking assist systems
    • Rearview cameras
    • Lane departure warning systems
    • Intelligent speed adaptation

These state-of-the-art systems function efficiently using dynamic sensors and cameras installed throughout your vehicle. The information they amass is transmitted to the ADAS, providing drivers with audio or visual alerts about possible dangers. In some cases, ADAS may even take control to avoid accidents or guide the vehicle away from potential hazards.

Following an ADAS windshield replacement, the calibration process refines the sensors and cameras, ensuring their proper functioning.

The Crucial Role of Windshield Recalibration

During windshield repair or replacement, technicians may need to disconnect or remove ADAS-related components. Given these components require exact alignment for an optimal ADAS system, recalibration conforming to manufacturer’s specifications post-repair or replacement is essential.

Potential Risks of Neglecting Windshield Calibration

Overlooking the need for recalibrating your windshield’s ADAS components could lead to:

    • The breakdown or complete failure of safety features, raising the risk of accidents
    • Deceptive warning signals, resulting in unnecessary stress and potential dangers
    • Diagnostic codes displayed on your dashboard, possibly causing unnecessary concern and additional diagnostic costs

    ADAS Calibration Timeline

The on-site calibration process typically takes at least 2 hours and can often occur alongside your windshield replacement appointment. The calibration process starts with aligning the camera with your vehicle’s computer system, resetting the system to factory specifications, and verifying accurate calibration. In certain cases, a dynamic calibration might be necessary, requiring the vehicle to be driven to calibrate the camera. We will notify you if this step applies to your vehicle.

Investing in Windshield Calibration & Insurance Considerations

Investing in windshield recalibration after a replacement or any repairs affecting ADAS functionality is of paramount importance. The cost for this service varies based on your vehicle’s make and model, as well as the location of the service. Average estimates range from $400 to $700. However, many auto insurance policies may provide coverage for these costs.
